Dunlopillo Ltd. will invest $6 million to $7.5 million over the next three years to increase its foam latex manufacturing capacity by a third, as part of a plan to boost sales to North America.

The Pannal/Harrogate-based firm said it currently exports more than $6 million worth of latex cores for mattress and pillows annually to the U.S. This follows a doubling of sales to North America last year and an 80-percent increase in business during the first quarter of 2002, the company said.

Idaho Power says it has entered into a 20-year agreement with Grand View Solar PV One to receive supplemental electricity.

Idaho Power has bought solar power from small residential projects but the contract with Grand View Solar signed last month is the first with a large provider.

Grand View Solar says it will develop solar panels on 180 acres of land leased from J.R. Simplot Co. located about 16 miles west of the Mountain Home Air Force Base in south-central Idaho.

But others prefer to be left alone, watching the TV or listening to the radio. Are you a cat owner who likes to cuddle all the time?

You will know when your cat is trying to get your attention. It will endlessly meow at you or it will follow you around or it will rub its body against your leg. You will also know if your cat is comfortable or scared by lifting up your cat. If the body is loose, then your cat is relaxed. If the body is tight, then something is scaring the daylights out of it.

Cats like to sleep. And the specific personality and breed of the cat will determine where the cat chooses to sleep. Some like to be in secluded places where no one can disturb them. They like to lie in high cupboards and similar places.

Another storm is expected the first of next week and is making its way from West to Eastern US. Meanwhile with wet ground for the next few weeks we must worry about a Hurricane or Tropical Storm and the remnants of that. Yes it is true; Hurricane Agnes flooded the North East much more than this set of storms, but Who Says Its Over Yet?

It is far from over and this set of storms and flooding easily could cost government over half a Billion Dollars or more and Insurance Companies at least that month. Lets face it with many towns flooded, Washington DC Agencies in ruin and many deaths, this is no little flooding event.

Besides, it is not any fun to watch fish in a dirty aquarium.

You should perform regular fish tank maintenance every two to three weeks. This means that you should look at the overall condition of your tank. Start with the outside first. Make sure that everything is functioning the way that it should. Check the lights, the filter, the heater, and the pump. If anything looks like it is not working properly, be sure to fix the problem before moving on. Malfunctioning aquarium equipment will also cause the fish tank to require more frequent cleaning and maintenance.

Ignoring an issue like this will not make it just go away. In fact, it will only make the problem worse and endanger the life of your fish.

SC revokes SJ Asset Management licence

THE Securities Commission (SC) has revoked SJ Asset Management Sdn Bhd’s (SJAM) licence, effective immediately, after investigations found the company had broken rules.

SJAM failed to safeguard clients’ assets and engaged in deceitful and improper business practices, the SC said. The company was also found to have given the SC false and misleading information.

“We are working closely with the police and regulatory counterparts in other countries as part of our investigations into the affairs of SJAM,” an SC spokesperson said in a statement that was released yesterday in Kuala Lumpur.

SJAM, a licensed fund company incorporated in 1992, manages regional investments in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan and South Korea.

On July 27, the SC asked the High Court to wind up the fund management company pursuant to Section 361 of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007.

“The winding-up of SJAM will enable liquidators to effectively deal with the rights and entitlements of all creditors, including the clients of the company,” the SC spokesperson said.

Yesterday, the High Court appointed Datuk Gan Ah Tee and Mok Chew Yin from BDO Governance Advisory Sdn Bhd as provisional liquidators.

The liquidators will also determine an appropriate basis of returning assets to entitled clients.

“We urge all affected parties to cooperate with the provisional liquidators to ensure an effective resolution of the issues con- fronting SJAM,” the SC spokes-person said.

SJAM came into the spotlight when the SC on June 29 stopped it from taking care of fresh funds after examination of the fund manager raised concerns.

Numerous attempts to reach SJAM chairman Datuk Kamaruddin Hamzah have been unsuccessful.

The whereabouts of the company’s managing director, Whai Onn Tan, are also unclear. Kamaruddin is the co-owner of SJAM Holdings Sdn Bhd, the parent company of SJAM, together with Whai.

Whai is also SJAM’s head of fund and portfolio management, while Kamaruddin sits on the board of directors of a few public-listed companies.
